Objectives

The PPGCS aims to promote the training of qualified human resources in the area of ​​Social Sciences, with an emphasis on the Northeast region. To this end, it seeks to: (I) guarantee stricto sensu postgraduate training for excellent researchers, with high standards of technical and ethical performance; (II) foster the production and dissemination of science, technology and culture, creating spaces for active dialogue between researchers from national and international institutions with diverse disciplinary backgrounds; (III) promote innovative approaches to the multiple dimensions of reality, in permanent dialogue with civil society and committing to social change, citizenship, democracy and justice in its various forms, including the social, economic, racial, gender and environmental dimensions.

 

The Master's Program in Social Sciences has the specific purpose of deepening the training acquired in the undergraduate course, developing advanced skills for research and teaching, in order to prepare students to act critically and innovatively in their fields. The Doctorate Program in Social Sciences, in turn, aims to develop the skills acquired throughout the Master's degree, training specialized and highly qualified students for higher education, capable of conducting high-impact research, for theoretical-methodological advances in the area and for working in civil society with a critical understanding about development, justice and equity.
