Every two years, the Program carries out registration processes for faculty members, following the beginning of the evaluation cycle and the mid-term seminars. Conducted by an Analysis and Affiliation Committee elected by the Academic Board, this process aims to realign the Faculty with the academic and institutional guidelines of UFBA and the guidelines of the Sociology Area of CAPES, ensuring excellence in student education, scientific innovation, and the social relevance of the Program.
Based on the diagnoses and projections of the institutional self-assessment and strategic planning seminars, each analysis and affiliation cycle seeks to ensure the active participation of faculty members who meet the demands of the research axis and the strategic priorities of the Program.
Affiliation refers to the Academic Board's formal authorization for new faculty members in the Program's teaching, research, guidance, extension and management activities. Reaffiliation consists of the formal renewal of the work relationship of already active faculty members, both in the category of "Permanent Faculty" and "Collaborate Faculty", and may involve changing between these categories. Dismissal is the formal process that results in the removal of a faculty member from the Program, which may occur due to personal request, end of the teaching cycle, misalignment with the research lines, failure to meet the minimum criteria for permanence or omission during the re-admission process.
The Faculty is composed of professors in the following categories:
- Permanent: Faculty member of the UFBA permanent staff, member of PROPAP (Coordinating Council Resolution 04/96) or from other institutions through institutional cooperation, with continuous and active participation in Master's and Doctorate programs.
- Collaborators: Faculty member who contributes in a complementary manner, teaching courses and occasionally participating in the academic and administrative activities of the Program.
In addition to the "Permanent" and "Collaborator" categories, the Program may also include faculty members with temporary ties, known as "Visiting Scholars", such as researchers from other institutions, renowned non-academic intellectuals, post-doctoral researchers, among others, whose activities are regulated by specific notices. The inclusion of these faculty members will be guided by UFBA's institutional regulations, the Program's internal ordinances, and CAPES regulations.
The criteria for the affiliation processes are defined in the Program's Internal Regulations and in specific resolutions, in addition to CAPES document for the Sociology area. These criteria include the effective participation of faculty members in the Program's academic and administrative activities and academic-scientific productivity compatible with institutional requirements.
